I don’t know about you, but I love to eat. Often times I think that the majority of the money I spend is on FOOD!

So, today I’ll be sharing some great recipes for leftovers from our very own Better Homes and Gardens website. And remember, the word “leftover” is really two fold because it will also help you have some leftover money in your checking account!

Check out how to create the chicken and sausage gumbo that is pictured above (doesn’t that look delicious?!) and many more leftover chicken recipes.

Yummy!

Fitness.com, one of our websites here at Meredith, posted a great grocery store list. The list consists of healthy (for your body and your wallet) items! Print this out next time you hit up your local grocery store and then return back to Fitness.com for how to put your new ingredients to use in healthy, money-saving, delicious recipes!

Saving money… while eating and drinking!

Today, I stumbled across a website entitled Happy Hour, Your Nationwide Happy Hour Guide.  This website enables you to search, by zip code, for all bars and restaurants offering happy hour deals. And, it lets you know what the deal entails.

So, every once in awhile, you can celebrate just because it’s Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday… you get the idea!

Forget drink to your health… and drink to your wealth!

Spend less at your next grocery store visit

posted by CaliCat :: posted 2/02, 7:06 pm

Did you know that stores frequently post prices such as “10 for $10” when the items actually sell individually for $1 each? Or did you know that a grocery store may sometimes sell the same item in two different departments for two different prices? Well, I had no idea until I read an article on More.com, one of our magazines here at Meredith, entitled 10 Money-Saving Tips for Grocery Shopping. This article may help you buy more by spending less next time you visit your local grocery store!

Eating healthy and spending wisely are both incredibly important. We’re happy to share that you don’t have to sacrifice your nutrition in order to save money! On Parents.com, one of our websites here at Meredith, you can find recipes and tips on how to turn leftovers into fun, creative, next-day dinners. For example, in the Parents.com article entitled New Life for Leftovers, I just learned that almost all leftovers will last 3 to four 4 days if you get them into the refrigerator within 2 hours of cooking.

Check it out and enjoy!

The local food movement is gaining nationwide popularity for MANY different reasons. It’s healthier, it’s tastier, it supports local economies, it’s better for the environment because it cuts down on the use of transportation fuel, and the list goes on!

Today, we found a great website that makes it easy for anyone to become a locavore (yes, this word is in the dictionary).

The name of the website is Local Harvest. If you type in your zip code, or the zip code of wherever you might be traveling to, it will give you a list of farmers’ markets in the area. If you’re craving a particular food that’s out of season in your area, you can order it from Local Harvest’s online catalog.
